Current Events – Homecoming Week

by Douglas S.

Every year starting in mid September to the end of September is Homecoming week in Welch, Oklahoma. We usually dress up according to a theme, and this year we did cowboy styles. There was a lot going on between the softball sendoff, door decoration contests and the parade Friday afternoon.

There was a parade where some people made floats and went through the area. There was also a send off for the highschool softball girls. Students stood on each side and cheered as they walked to the vans to go to the game.

For sports there is also something for the high school to do. They will pick the homecoming king and queen a couple hours before the homecoming game, then, around 10 to 15 nominees go onto the field and one gets chosen for king and one other gets chosen for queen.
